Welcome to the Natura Design Blog

Welcome to the Natura Design blog. To visit the main Natura Design website please click here.

New clients can find a link to their ongoing construction projects in the side navigation, under client’s under CATEGORIES.

On this blog you will find lots of useful  information on all kinds building methods, the products we use and where we source them from. The construction methods for building houses in Lanzarote are quite different from that in the UK.

Internal Doors

The Internal doors are now fitted, we have chosen brushed aluminium door furniture to match the clean lines of the doors.

Garage and Patio Doors

We have used up and over garage doors bought from Suministros Jose Luis Cabrera S.L. located in the industrial zone in Playa Blanca, they provide a very good installation service and always make return visits if you have any problems.

The lower level patio doors have been installed and we have tiled the lower patios to match to top terraces.

Garage Floors

The garage floors have been laid.

It is very important to get this right, any floor that is going to have cars driving over it must be laid correctly. First of all we set in uPVC expansion joints (not available in Lanzarote but can be ordered through TECNOL who will import them for you). These have a duel purpose, they are laid level so we can use them to level the concrete screed and they also act as expansion joints which stop the floor cracking. Any floor over 25msq should have them.

The concrete is ordered as ready mix, this is also important so that we have a good consistency of sand to cement mix. This is a a very strong mixture of HORMIGON HA-25/B/20llla. We must lay the floor quickly as we have to wait approx 4 hours for it to reach the correct consistency for us to polish out the lines left by the straightedge. We use a wet mixture of cement and compact-tuna on the hardened concrete surface while it it still slightly wet, this creates a really tough bonded surface that will not crumble under the wait of cars.

External Tiling of Patios and Stairwells

We have finished the downstairs tiling of the patios and the rear stairwells.  I have fitted a metal galvanized edging to the stair treads for added strength and for long term wear and tare.
